Inculcating competitive spirit in the early stages of students’ life gives them the advantage of making themselves future-ready. Group Discussion indeed has become a part of the screening process, be it for admissions or job hiring. To harness the latent talent of students in terms of language skills, Manav Rachna International University step forward and focussed on honing students’ skills in group discussion. Keeping this in view, The Hindu organised ‘GD-Pro Junior’ for students of Standards 11 and 12 at Page Junior College, Hyderabad.
At GD Pro 2018, Neelkanth Vidyapeeth shone brightly over 20 schools participating in the workshops followed by GD Pro rounds inclusive of Heats, Semi Finals and a Grand Finale. 6students qualified for semis. Among them Srikar of grade 11 enthralled his performance and qualified for regional finals and occupied his seat in Nationwide Semifinals at Faridabad. In this one-of-its-kind competition students battled it out, putting their best foot forward in each round.
The event was graced by Miss Deepali and Rithika, Head - Career Development Centre, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, and a team of soft skills experts, struck a chord with the students while apprising them of various concerns regarding their careers and giving lucid advice to help them sail through.The other eminent personalities who judged the heats and semi-finals are Prashanth, Alok, Preety and Deepika from the Hindu newspaper. The participating students were visibly delighted and they understood the importance of public speaking in their lives and promised to participate with greater gusto in the following year.
